Mr. Andrew Pete was born on February 10,1939. He was the son of the late Reverend William Pete and Estelle Gladney Pete. He departed this life on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
Mr Pete was educated in public schools of Fairfield County and graduated from McCorey Liston High School. He was a student bus driver and played on the varsity basketball team. After High School he joined the United States Airforce and was stationed in Alaska. When his service was over, he married his high school sweetheart, Alice Carol Sims and moved to New York. He worked at Con Edison for over 35 years ensuring the people of New York had electricity. After retiring, he returned to his roots in Blair, SC where he enjoyed watching westerns, the news and debating politics with everyone. He was affectionately known as the "Governor " of Twisted Lane. He also enjoyed time with friends and family. In his later years, he became a member of St Peter Community Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. William Pete and Estelle Gladney Pete, his loving wife, Alice Carol Sims Pete, sisters; Mamie Pete Lawrence and Alice Pete McKanic, Brothers; William Pete, David Pete, Samuel Pete, Sgt. Charles Pete and Joseph Pete. He is survived by his sisters; Hattie Pete Yarborough, Genevieve Pete McGraw, Stella M. Pete Pearson, His brothers; James Pete, Arthur Pete, Bobby Pete and brother-in-law; Irvin Sims.
Mr Pete leaves to mourn his daughters; Sonya Collette Sims (Robert) Mattei, Jacqueline Pete, Pamela Horne, Adrianne Pete. Six grandchildren: Lynaire (Kelvin) Thomas, Shana Mattei, Dr. Jazmin Horne, Alexis Mattei, Ronald Edward Horne Jr, Rachel Mattei, 3 great-grandchildren; Jayden and Saniya Wilson and Ronald Edward Horne III and host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
