Chris Mickens

Mr. Chris Brian Mickens was born on June 21, 1959, in Columbia, S. C. He was the sixth of seven children born to the late Otis and Ella Mae Timmons Mickens. He departed this life on July 14, 2022, at his home in Cleveland, Ohio. 
Chris was reared in a Christian home and, at an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and joined Greenview First Baptist Church. 
Chris attended primary school in the Columbia area and graduated from W.J. Keenan High School in 1977. He continued his education at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College and received a degree in Health Science in Practical Nursing; Harbor Hospital Nursing School and received and Associate Degree in Nursing; University of South Carolina and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry; University of Maryland Eastern Shore and received a Master’s Degree in Nursing; and, Indiana Wesleyan University and received a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration/Management.
Chris was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He also served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. 
Mr. Mickens was preceded in death by his father and mother, Otis and Ella Timmons Mickens; sister, Janice Sharon Mickens Harkless; and brother, Darryl Lamont Mickens. He will be sorely missed by his loving family and friends. 

Mr. Chris Brian Mickens leaves to cherish his precious memories: his son, Christopher Darnell Taylor; a loving daughter, Briana Avis Mickens; two sisters, Avis M. (Christopher) Buchanan and Toni Y. Wilson; two brothers, Otis Xavier and Larry Eugene Mickens, all of Columbia, South Carolina; a loving and dedicated friend, Vady Caraballo of Cleveland, Ohio; one uncle, Joseph (Freddie) Mickens; four nephews; two nieces, great nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
