Mrs. Dora Virginia Ashford-Evans, daughter of the late Heyward and Onetha Kinsler was born April 12, 1951, in Winnsboro, South Carolina. she attended the public schools of Fairfield County through her educational upbringing. In 1973, Dora married Leroy Evans and began their family in Winnsboro, South Carolina. This union was blessed with two children, one stepchild, and ten grandchildren.
Dora and Leroy were high school sweethearts, meeting at Fairfield High School. For the rest of her life, you would rarely see one without the other.
Her work career began at the Veneer plant. In time she went to Uniroyal where she worked as a doffer until she retired. Once retired, she then dedicated her time to caring for her grandchildren while her children worked. She also enjoyed online shopping and was always well dressed whenever, wherever. Once she started, fishing was one of her pleasures along with watching old cowboy movies and studying for the meetings with her husband, Leroy.
Dora was moved to dedicate her life to Jehovah God and symbolized her dedication and baptism on November 2, 2019. This positive shift in her life allowed her to become more outgoing and sociable with others. She enjoyed going from door to door to speak with others about Jehovah God and his promises. She was proud to be known as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Once COVID-19 surfaced, she enjoyed writing letters to others about her hope of everlasting life in a paradise new Earth. When she left for the hospital, she left a stack of letters still to be mailed out.
She is preceded in death by the parents and four siblings, Heyward Kinsler (father), Onetha Kinsler (mother), Heyward Ashford (brother), Arthur Mack Ashford (brother), Carrie Chappell (sister), and Lorraine Sampson (sister).
Dora is survived by her husband, Leroy Evans of Winnsboro, SC; two children, Troy T. (Tamara) Evans, of Columbia, SC and Denise L. (Clayton) Duckett of Winnsboro, SC; one stepson Michael Yarborough, of Winnsboro, SC; four siblings, Eileen (Tommy) Crim, of Winnsboro, SC; Althonia Kinsler of Winnsboro, SC; Harvey Kinsler of Winnsboro, SC; and Lindy Kinsler of Sumter, SC; four sisters-in-law, Mattie (James) Smiling of Columbia, SC; Mamie (Leroy) Pauling of Winnsboro, SC; Mary Robinson of Winnsboro, SC; and Roslyn (Derek) Grantt of Columbia, SC; two brothers-in-law James L. Evans of Columbia, SC; and Adam (Ahinoam) Evans of Rutherford, VA; ten grandchildren: Troy T. Evans Jr, Chad T. Evans, A'Vionne D. Richardson, Celesha D. Duckett, Canesha L. Duckett, Alani I. Evans, Kolby Yarborough, Konnor Yarborough, Korbin Yarborough, Clayton Duckett Jr. and a host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
