Eddie Gaither Obituary

Mr. Eddie L. Gaither Sr., known to many as "Luck" was born February 22, 1949, to the late Otis Gaither Sr. and the late Alice Mae Henry Gaither. Eddie departed this life on Monday, August 9th, 2021. Eddie attended the public schools of Fairfield County and graduated from Fairfield High School in the class of 1968. He attended Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. He was a veteran in the United States Army. Eddie retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections in Columbia South Carolina after 20 plus years of service in 1976 he was blessed to marry the love of his life Constance Belton Gaither and they were together for 45 exceptional years. To this union, one child was born, a loving son, Eddie L. Gaither Jr. (Tockus).  He has one daughter Latoya M. Ford; four grandchildren Marcellous Benjamin, Quincy Benjamin II, Ja-La Gladden, and his pride and joy, granddaughter Taja A. Gaither, better known as his Tadiwa, and one great-grandson Marcellous Benjamin Jr.

 

Eddie leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to his four sisters Dr. Hattie Ree Smith Shannon, Alice Yvonne Tripplin, Pamela Wise, and Zonetta Wise all of Baltimore, MD; one brother Charles Gaither of Fort Worth Texas and one sister in law: Alberta Gaither of Winnsboro.  He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces nephews, and friends.

 

Along with his father and mother, Eddie L.Gaither was preceded in death by his brother Otis Jr, Spencer, David, and Virgil (late Ella Lou) Gaither and sisters Patricia ((late Theodore) Mobley, and Shirley Shepard.

 Memorial service plans will be announced at a later date.
