Henrietta Whitaker Gibson

Mrs. Henrietta (Henny) Crim Whitaker Gibson began her journey on this earth on April 25, 1933.   She was born in Ridgeway, SC to the late James T. Crim and Elease Kennedy Crim Clinton of Ridgeway, SC.  She was the eldest child of the four children born to this union.  On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in Columbia, SC, God dispatched His angels to bring home the soul of a very special angel.  Henrietta gained her wings.   

 

Mrs. Henrietta was educated in the public schools of Fairfield County.  Her name was added to the Heavenly Roll at an early age when she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church as a faithful and obedient servant of the LORD.   She worked at Uniroyal Textile and retired after 25 years of dedicated service.

 

Mrs. Henrietta was first married to Moses Whitaker and to this union; eight sons and two daughters were born.   She later married Lester D. Gibson and to this union, one daughter was born. 

 

Momma enjoyed being around her family and friends.  Although she loved us all, I think she especially enjoyed the grandkids.  She enjoyed taking care of her animals, gardening and canning.  She was the family historian.  She shared a lot of stories and boy did we have some laughs.  She enjoyed telling us where everyone lived, how they met, and who and how they were related to one another.  She also loved to fish and could clean and cook a fish faster than any one I know.  She always had a smile on her face and in her words “y'all come get "cha" a plate of something to eat (smile).  She had a humble and gentle spirit, never complained, and always thankful and grateful for any and everything you would do for her.  We Will Forever Love and Will Miss You Momma.  

 

Mrs. Henrietta Crim Whitaker Gibson leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted daughters Vera (Theodore) Jackson of Hopkins, SC and Elease (Clinton) Washington of Lugoff, SC; her sons Fred (Joyce) Whitaker of Hartford, Conn., Larry (Monique) Whitaker of Springfield, MA; Curtis (Karen) Whitaker of Ridgeway, SC; John Whitaker of Chicopee, Mass; Martell (Sheila) Whitaker of Winnsboro, SC; her sister, Lucille Steins of Winnsboro, SC; two brothers, Tommy Lee (Eileen) Crim of Winnsboro, SC and Henry Lee Crim of Winnsboro, SC; a son-in-law, Steve (Ann) Alston of Ridgeway, SC; two sister in laws; Esther Brown of Lugoff, SC and Myrtle (Boysie) Ford of Ridgeway, SC; One aunt: Leesther (Harrison) Davis of Ridgeway, SC; one uncle:  Herbert Belton of Ridgeway, SC; Thirty Two (32) grandchildren, Thirty Three (33) great grandchildren and two (2) great-great grandchildren. 

 

Mrs. Henrietta was preceded in her death by her parents, husbands, siblings, and children:  Johnnie Mae Wright Alston, Thomas James Whitaker, Moses Alfonzia Whitaker, and Michael Lewis Whitaker.
