James Trapp Obituary

James Trapp was born on April 26, 1937 in Greenbriar, SC.  He was the son of the late Joe Trapp and Carrie Thompson.
 
On Thursday June 2, 2022 at Providence Hospital, James quietly departed this life of labor to heavenly reward.  James affectionately known as Trapp was a man of many titles. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, neighbor, councilman, dj, and black entrepreneur.  
 
Trapp begin working at a young age to help his mother take care of his family. In 1957 he met his loving wife Willie Lee (Baten) Trapp. They were joined in marriage on June 29, 1958. From their marriage, three kids were born; The late Terry James, Janet, and Yvette.
 
Trapp was a man of many titles. He was employed at SCE&G where he retired. Retirement was a little too quiet. So, he decided to start a small business and open the Tackle Box II in Monticello, SC. He ran a successful business in the community for many years before deciding to sell this business and start Trapp’s Trucking. He continued operating Trapp’s Trucking until retirement. After retiring (again), he started one last business….T & T Tires. He successfully operated this business from the home until he became ill.
 
Trapp was a member of White Hall AME Church where he served on the trustee board. He was also a councilman for the town of Jenkinsville where he also help incorporate Jenkinsville into a town.
 
Trapp was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Trapp and Carrie Thompson; son, Terry James Trapp; sisters, Lucille Ruff, Georgia Mae Belton, Mamie Lee Kelly, and Francis Green; brothers, Joe Trapp III and Allen David Trapp; sister-in-law, Margaret (Wilbert) Crumblin; brother-in-law, Curtis (Ann) Baten and Claude Belton.
 
He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories, his wife, Willie Lee; his daughters, Janet Trapp Suber (James Dyches) and Yvette Trapp Feaster (Tony Feaster)of Jenkinsville; three grandchildren, LaShanda Trapp , Chaunte Trapp and Terry (Essence) Taylor; five great-grandchildren; Tony Trapp, Aaliyah Trapp, Tykwan Trapp, Jayce Edmunds, and Terry Taylor, Jr.; three sisters, Elizabeth (John) Smith, Pauline Trapp, Maryann Trapp; three brothers, Eugene (Sheryl) Trapp, John (Joyce) Trapp, and Paul Trapp; one brother in law, Stanley (Joyce) Baten of New Jersey; a host of other relative and friends who will miss him dearly.
