Mary Lee Roseboro Smalls was born March 7, 1931 in White Oak, South Carolina, to the late Andrew Roseboro, Sr, and Mary Eliza Jordan Roseboro. She transitioned to her heavenly home March 28, 2021.
Mary Lee was educated in the Fairfield County public schools. After high school she attended Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She then entered holy matrimony to Emanuel Smalls. She was employed by the Fairfield County School District. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Weeping Mary Baptist Church, White Oak, SC. Upon marriage she joined Greater St. John AME Church, Winnsboro, SC. She loved her church and was a faithful and dedicated member until death. She was a member of The Deaconess Board, Missionary Society, and The True and Tried Daughters of Zion.
Mary Lee loved her family and friends and never found fault with anyone. All of her friends and family called her MayLee, but to her great-grand boys Noah and Joe, who were especially close to her heart, she was “Mama Lady”. She was a dedicated wife and mother of six children. She enjoyed working, taking long walks, helping her friends, as well as, watching the news and the Judge Judy show.
Loving her always are her two daughters: Barbara A Davis (Johnny) of Winnsboro, SC; Sharon Y Milling (Cedric) of Fayetteville, NC; three sons, Gregory E Smalls (Donna) of Columbia, SC; Derrick B Smalls of Arlington, TX; Bruce E Smalls (Barbara) of Winnsboro, SC: godson, Randolph “Shug” Young of Winnsboro, SC. Cherishing her also are four grandchildren: Gregory Smalls III of Avondale, AZ; Na’rada Smalls of Phoenix, AZ; Cedric Milling of The U.S. Army, stationed at Zama-Kanagawa, Japan; and Anjellica Davis of Winnsboro, SC; four great-grandchildren, three sisters: Josephine Evans of Corona, NY; Gloria R Gentry of Washington, DC; Remattie O Suber (Charles) of Columbia, SC; a special and caring friend Audrey Russell of Winnsboro, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding her in death are husband, Emanuel Smalls and oldest daughter Brenda J Smalls Bookert.
