Matthew Simmons

Mr. Matthew “Matt” Edward Simmons Sr. of Charlotte, North Carolina was born on October 23, 1966, in Winnsboro, SC. He departed this life on Saturday, August 21, 2021. He was the son of the late George and Hazeline Simmons. Matt attended the public schools of Fairfield County, then later continued his education in Charlotte, NC. He was employed by the Oliver Paving Company in Charlotte, NC for over 30 years. Matt loved spending time with his family and fixing cars. He loved his son and everybody knew that was “my boy”. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Davis.
Matthew leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Matthew Jr. (Melanie), his companion for over 20 years Sheila Green, daughters; Michelle Givens and Olivia Green, son Brandon Green; seven grandchildren; brothers, James (Europe), George (Tonya), Samuel (Anita), David (Olympia), Cornelius (Tenna), Andrew Simmons and Nathaniel (Pattie)Williams; sisters Beatrice Young, Bessie Pittman, Helen Holbert, Lillie Caldwell, Rosetta (Brian) 
Boyd, and Lisa (Otis) Johnson, and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
