Deaconess Emeritus Susie Mae Harrison was born October 26, 1938, to the late Jack and Josephine Martin in Kershaw County, SC. She was educated in Kershaw County public schools and attended Good Aim Baptist Church as young girl, which is where she met the love of her life, Deacon Curtis Marion Harrison. The two lovebirds united in holy matrimony on March 30, 1957, and to this union, four daughters were born. Mrs. Harrison worked various jobs but retired as a school bus driver in Richland Two School District.
Deaconess Harrison was a faithful Rehoboth Baptist Church member, where she sang alongside her husband in the Jubilee choir and served on various ministries including the Deaconess board, the usher board and the kitchen committee. She faithfully attended Rehoboth Baptist Church until her health declined.
Deaconess Harrison was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Josephine Martin; her husband of 63 years, Deacon Emeritus Curtis M. Harrison; two daughters, Annie Mae Summers and Susie Mae Ellison; brothers, Provin Smith, Clyburn Martin, Lonnie Martin, James Martin, Earnest Martin, Robert T. Martin and John Wesley Martin; and a sister Lillian Gibson.
Deaconess Harrison leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Margie (David) Long and Marion (David) Whitaker; one son-in-law Stanley Ellison; one sister: Henrietta Reed; one aunt, Cleo Hawk; three sisters-in-law: Viette Harrison, Patricia Harrison, Dorothy (James) Price; two brothers-in-law: James(Natsumi) Harrison and Charles (Vivian) Harrison; four granddaughters: LaTezzar (Eric) Fair-Dash, LaDatril Long, LaQuinta Long, and Crystal Whitaker: six great-grandchildren: Ericka (Brandon) Dash Carroll, Makayla Long, Christopher Dash, Madison Long, Elijah Fair Dash, and Tristian Whitaker and numerous family and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
