Mrs. Suzanne Sue Hayes has departed this life and entered eternal peace and rest on July 2, 2022. She was born to the late Mr. Willie T. Hayes and the late Mrs. Mary Miller Hayes on June 28, 1956, as the twelfth of thirteen children. She attended Rock Hill City Schools and graduated from Northwestern High School with the class of 1974. She later attended Southern College where she graduated with her Associates Degree.
In 1982, she would meet her life partner, the late James Wylie, with whom she would have two daughters. They spent 22 years together. Sue was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC for the last 14 years. She participated in many of the church’s ministries and social events. She is affectionately known to be very talkative, loving, caring and generous by all that knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters: Aviance (Joe) Pankey of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Ashley (John) Hayes of Charlotte, North Carolina. She also has three granddaughters; Ayanna, Ava and Amara who love and will miss her dearly. Sue would also love and care for her Godson Trai Mobley and was very proud of him. She also leaves behind her youngest sister, Willene (Nathan) Morgan of Rock Hill, South Carolina. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sue will truly be missed by many that loved her. We will cherish all the laughs, stories and precious moments that we shared with her.
I would like to be known as an intelligent woman, a courageous woman, a loving woman, a woman who teaches by being. – Maya Angelou
